What are BGS sensors?

BGS stands for background suppression, and this type of reflective sensor operates on the principle of triangulation. Whereas normal diffuse-reflective type sensors operate by increasing or decreasing the received light amount, BGS sensors operate by determining distance, providing stable detection with advanced resistance to influences from workpiece color, gloss, or tilting.

    1. When light from the sensor hits object A, light is reflected back to receiving position A, and when light hits object A’, light is reflected back to receiving position A’. Analyzing the difference between positions A and A’ on the light receiving element make it possible to detect the positions of objects A and A’.

    The BGS-HDL series is able to achieve excellent high-resolution height difference detection and stable detection performance by equipping each C-MOS laser sensors with a highly reliable Tri-Core engine, the same as used on high-end displacement sensors.
    Sensors are equipped with two control outputs. This allows for two-step upper and lower limit output, accomplishing with one device what would otherwise require two.
